Scripture: Micah 1:1-5

Micah prophesied in the days before the captivity when Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah were kings in Judah. While Micah dealt primarily with Judah, he also dealt some with the northern kingdom of Israel and predicted its fall. Micah was a contemporary with Hosea in the northern kingdom and Isaiah in Jerusalem. Micah 1:1-5 is very strong and Micah made it clear that he had heard God, and that the people were to get ready because the Judge was coming. The amazing thing about the prophets is that they all tried to save Israel from destruction. If Israel had only listened, they could have saved themselves incredible adversity. Why does God send prophets? He sends them to save us from affliction and adversity, if the recipients will listen and respond with an open heart. I trust that the people of God today will hear the prophets of God in the days ahead. Bringing ourselves under the authority of God’s Word is the key.
