Scripture: Matthew 3:7-11

In Matthew 3:7-11, John the Baptist was speaking about Jesus and he made it very clear that Jesus, in this passage, is a little different than most of us think. Verses 7-11 states, “But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, “Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not think to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” Verse 11 makes it clear that Jesus will baptize us with the Holy Spirit and fire. The seven baptisms that we want to look at are seven baptisms of fire that prepare and develop us to come into the fullness of the Seven Spirits of God. Each baptism has a very specific purpose and a very specific fruit. Sometimes it takes years and sometimes God culminates growth and development in a short period of time. Let us trust that He will expedite what needs to be concluded and bring us into the fullness of what He has.
