Scripture: Psalm 2:1,2

Psalm 2:1,2 describes the adversarial nature of politicians in the last days: “Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,…” The first thing we notice in Psalm 2 is the conflict of rulers. The same conflict of rule we saw between Saul and David, we see between political leaders and the church. The political leaders are advancing vain things like abortion and homosexuality. They set themselves and they council together in how to destroy righteous dictates of God. How many politicians have set themselves to destroy the righteous dictates of God? Judges impose abortion by fiat. We have politicians legislating homosexuality. David prophesied it in Psalm 2. It is as true today as the day he prophesied it. I wonder what his experience was when he prophesied it. David saw wicked leaders. The rebellious spirit of Saul is still alive and well. It permeates our politicians. There is a war going on and for the last 50 years the church has been losing. I wonder why? Could it have anything to do with the fact that we haven’t taught the church how to access the rod of iron? What an enlightening moment. The Bible had the answer all along and our tradition locked it up out of sight and just plain didn’t feed it to us. The answer is in the Bible. David found the God who knew how to deal with kings who plot vain things. David found it in his relationship with the Lord. Will we find the rod of iron in our relationship with the Lord?
