Scripture: Numbers 22:9-41

Jude’s reference to Balaam is interesting because it highlights the issue of mixed-seed. Baalam was a prophet who spoke for God which was a problem for Balak who sought the supernatural gift to curse Israel so his nation could prevail in their conflict with Israel. Baalam consistently blessed Israel to the great irritation of Balak. Baalam was eager to collect the money that Balak threatened to withhold for blessing instead of cursing Israel. Baalam taught Balak to lure Israel into sexual sin, then they could prevail. It worked and Baalam got paid. This ploy is referred to in Revelation as the Doctrine of Baalam and Jesus hates it. Once Israel dealt with their sin, they killed Baalam and prevailed. This is a great lesson for the church that demands we reject mixed-seed so our weapons work from a platform of purity and holiness! May the Holy Spirit pour discernment to distinguish the true and the pure.
