MONDAY, JULY 1
Scripture: Ephesians 1:7

Ephesians 1:7 says, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace…” Redemption is an interesting word in Greek. It is ap-ol-oo-tro-sis and it means, ‘To pay the fine or penalty so that the violation is completely removed and there is no record of it.’ Redemption is the total payment of any penalty associated, judged or legally due from a violation. If we incur a traffic ticket and pay the fine, the ticket is removed. We pay in dollars for the redemption of our earthly fines but when it comes to sin and the death penalty due the equation changes. Hebrews 9:22 says, “Without the shedding of blood there is no remission.” Jesus bought and paid for every violation of God’s law by shedding His blood, so that we are free from guilt and condemnation. We must appropriate it in order to be completely free from the blame, shame and guilt of sin. The Blood is our cleansing flood!
