Scripture: Luke 1:34-38
What do we do with this kind of high favor and acceptance? That was a quandary for Mary and it will likely be a quandary for most of us. Luke 1:34-38 says, “Then Mary said to the angel, ‘How can this be, since I do not know a man?’ And the angel answered and said to her, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible.’ Then Mary said, ‘Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.’ And the angel departed from her.” We need to understand that as the mystery of God’s Will unfolds, we may very well have to ask, ‘How can this be?’ Life is full of unknowns and they come every day. God says that the answer to all of the unknowns is the same – the Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit is the answer to our unknowns. The Holy Spirit came on Mary and created in her the body of God’s Son. And that is exactly what happened. We need to spend some time yielding our lives to the Holy Spirit, walking with Him, praying in the Spirit and building the Kingdom in us so that we can bring forth His perfect will as we discover it.
