Scripture: Hebrews 9:11-14

In Step 1, we turn to Christ and accept His Blood Sacrifice for our sin and speak to the mountain of guilt and shame. In Step 2, we cleanse our conscience with the Word by choosing to accept God’s declaration that we are now a new creation. Hebrews 9:11-14 says, “But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” Here in Hebrews 9, we get a whole new application of am-o-mas, without spot, wrinkle or blemish. The purpose of it goes to our very conscience because Paul says that Christ came as a High Priest of the good things to come. This passage tells us that the Blood of Christ cleanses us and gives us the total freedom from dead works to serve the Living God. We develop a conscience that is free from the past. There is a severing of the past, there is a severing of even the memory of sin that leads to perishing. That is the goal! Out of a clear conscience comes a pure faith. It is important to have our conscience purged in order to have a pure faith. This is absolutely essential and it is something we grow into. Let’s embrace it and walk it out!
