Scripture: 2 Samuel 7:9, Acts 13:32-34

2 Samuel 7:9 says, “And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a great name, like the name of the great men who are on the earth.” And Acts 13:32-34 goes on to say, “And we declare to you glad tidings—that promise which was made to the fathers. God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm: ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.’ And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, He has spoken thus: ‘I will give you the sure mercies of David.’” Here we have the declaration of Scripture in the New Testament that the very same covenant that the Father gave to King David, Jesus now gives to you and I. He gave us that covenant in Christ. Jesus was cut off from the land of the living and suffered injustice in judgment, and that through His sacrifice, God gives us access to covenant justice against enemies of God’s plans and purposes. What does covenant justice look like against a past or present wicked leader that is plotting destruction of Kingdom purpose? What does it look like for politicians who sanction prosecutors to overthrow an election? Asking God to cut off those who oppose His will and thwart His purposes is a Christian obligation and can be done in a language we know or perhaps more effectively in one we do not know! When uncertain times prevail, Christ the Rock has empowered us to pray His will even beyond our own expectations! Praying in the Spirit is the wisest and safest thing to do!
