Scripture: Acts 3:22-23

Acts 3:22-23 says, “For Moses truly said to the fathers, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’” Suddenly we have an answer to our question about what it means that God said “I will require it of him” in Deuteronomy 18. Acts 3:23 is much stronger than much of what we hear in the New Testament. “Every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.” How many sermons have we heard preached on this passage? If we do not seek to understand this mystery, it could cost us our lives. Some of the mysteries in the Word are so important it would be unwise to ignore or glance over them! The mysteries have to be unfolded and understood in order for the church to fulfill God’s will for the church and gain everything Jesus died for. If we do not get to know the prophet like Moses, then we cannot fulfill our calling in Christ in the last days. We had better be praying in the Spirit because it is obvious, there is a day coming when our lives could depend on it. Let’s pray in the Spirit, in Jesus’ name. Much of the American church today touts the grace and mercy message and ignores or minimizes righteousness and holiness, wanting to ascribe judgment to Old Testament days. Acts 3:22-23 are verses in the New Testament that we would be wise to attend to!
