WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 18
Scripture: Acts 13:34-42

Just as soon as Paul preached the covenant of Sure Mercy, he went on to issue this warning. Verse 40-42 says, “Beware therefore, lest what has been spoken in the prophets come upon you: ‘Behold, you despisers, Marvel and perish! For I work a work in your days, A work which you will by no means believe, Though one were to declare it to you.’ So when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. ” The Apostle Paul used Habakkuk 1 as a warning for all of us not to despise the covenant of Sure Mercy. If we despise the covenant of Sure Mercy, it is possible to forfeit the harvest that God has in store for us. The Apostle Paul says not to do it and that the same devastation that came upon Jerusalem and Israel can come upon us. We need to take heed to the covenant and act upon it. Paul’s warning is a strong one and it is aimed at us today, right now!
