Scripture: Nahum 2:8-10

Nahum 2:8-10 states, “Though Nineveh of old was like a pool of water, Now they flee away. ‘Halt! Halt!’ they cry; But no one turns back. Take spoil of silver! Take spoil of gold! There is no end of treasure, Or wealth of every desirable prize. She is empty, desolate, and waste! The heart melts, and the knees shake; Much pain is in every side, And all their faces are drained of color.” In each chapter it seemed that Nahum was drawing an increasingly more graphic description of devastation. And when that devastation occurred, the city was subsequently hidden and not discovered for hundreds of years. An important thing we learn from the prophets and how they walked in faith, is that they knew their job was to declare the Word of the Lord, whether it was blessing or judgment. And if it was judgment, God was their Savior and they trusted Him to preserve them, but they had to speak the Word of the Lord. And when they delivered words of judgment, God in His timing bulldozed nations. Let us do everything we can to stay His Hand of judgment against our nation and see if we can pray repentance and redemption for a greater harvest.
