Scripture: Psalm 55:12-15

In Psalm 55:12-15 we are told, “For it is not an enemy who reproaches me; Then I could bear it. Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me; Then I could hide from him. But it was you, a man my equal, My companion and my acquaintance. We took sweet counsel together, And walked to the house of God in the throng. Let death seize them; Let them go down alive into hell, For wickedness is in their dwellings and among them.” In these verses, King David was praying against his former best friend Ahithophel. He was invoking the covenant of Sure Mercy and asking for God’s judgment, which we know he got. Ahithophel is an example of someone who took a stand against the covenant of Sure Mercy and it cost him his life. Do we know anyone taking a stand against God’s covenant of Sure Mercy today? We need to invoke it over the nation and ask God to cut off and remove all those who are trying to destroy the land. All the politicians and leaders who cross God’s boundaries deserve judgment. Their removal will save the land like Ahithophel’s death saved David and his rule over Israel!
