Scripture: Joshua 10:24-28

To walk with the Lord in the last days, we really need to understand His mercy covenant. Joshua 10:24,25 gives us a glimpse into how God thinks as a Man of war. It says, “So it was, when they brought out those kings to Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said to the captains of the men of war who went with him, ‘Come near, put your feet on the necks of these kings.’ And they drew near and put their feet on their necks. Then Joshua said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed; be strong and of good courage, for thus the Lord will do to all your enemies against whom you fight.’” How did it feel to have a foot on the throat of a political king, a ruler of a nation? Has Jesus promised to put our foot on the ruler’s throat? If we are praying for a president who acts like an enemy and we envision ourselves with our foot on his throat, what do we pray? King David in Psalm 143:12 is our example, “In your mercy, cut off my enemies!” Why should we take passages like Joshua 10:24,25 and sow them in our heart? – So that we understand the spiritual reality of where we stand because Christ made us a King and a Priest. Spiritually speaking, Jesus made us Kings over the kings of the earth. So when we pray for the errant head of a nation, we can envision our foot on his throat. Pray like David!
