TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 11
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 13:11,12

Verses 11,12 says, “And they burn to the Lord every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense; they also set the showbread in order on the pure gold table, and the lampstand of gold with its lamps to burn every evening; for we keep the command of the Lord our God, but you have forsaken Him. Now look, God Himself is with us as our head, and His priests with sounding trumpets to sound the alarm against you. O children of Israel, do not fight against the Lord God of your fathers, for you shall not prosper!” The title of the book Purifying the Altar came from the phrase in verse 11, “…on the pure gold table.” Notice verse 12 says that God Himself is with us. We have priests that are going to sound the trumpets. They will sound the alarm against, and they will pray against. Why fight against the Lord if you are only going to lose? That was very gutsy of Abijah, but it was also very pastoral. He was trying to save the Israelites of the Northern Kingdom because they were about to meet the God Who desires to kill. If we know the God Who desires to kill, we can plead with sinners like Abijah did!
