Scripture: Exodus 20:3,7

In Exodus 20:3, God reveals His righteousness through the Ten Commandments. The first Commandment is, “You shall have no other gods before Me.” It is an issue of first love. Verse 7 is a very familiar one and it says, “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.” God’s righteousness is revealed in the Ten Commandments and when we look at the book of Revelation, It is obvious He is still judging by them today. Jesus did not come to do away with the law or the prophets, but to establish them. Therefore, if we want our discernment to grow in the days ahead, we need to be familiar with God’s righteous standard because it has not changed. It was the same in the Old Testament as it is today. Continually violating that righteous standard will bring God’s Judicial Hand. That is a message that many do not want to hear. They would much prefer to hear that judgment is not an issue anymore because it all fell on Jesus. The problem is, that is mixed-seed teaching that destroys discernment. The people who teach it are standing in the shoes of false prophets.
