Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:18-20

The New Testament is very clear about the apostle’s reliance on Love Layer Four/Affliction to deal with wayward believers and their resistance. 1 Timothy 1:18-20 state, “This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck, of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme.” Paul makes it clear that he has two serious contenders that are attempting to destroy his ministry. He is at war with Hymenaeus and he is at war with Alexander. There is no hesitation to turn them over to satan for the destruction of their flesh that their spirit may be saved and purpose that they learn not to blaspheme. That means Paul had a confrontation with both of them over the issue of blasphemy. They refused to repent and he had no choice but to act. I trust today’s leaders will empower people to grow to the place where we can act like the early church. Then and only then will the fear of the Lord return to the church. It is desperately needed!
