WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 7
Scripture: 1 Chronicles 21:16-20

God commanded the angel to stop destruction at the threshing floor of Ornan and then, through Gad, told David to build an altar. Judgment stopped at a purposeful place and David then had a choice to make. That choice was, to buy the piece of property and build an altar there. God was revealing something about His covenantal relationship with David. He was revealing that there is a Sword of the lord that can be started and stopped. He was also revealing the purposes for which it is released. David is a man after God’s own heart because he did all God said. Even in his sin, God redeemed it because David did what the lord said and many generations learned from his mistakes. This is what it means to be a man after God’s own heart. Even when we fail, God is redemptive and He will teach other generations from it.
