Scripture: Isaiah 1:25-28

Isaiah 1:25-28 says, “’I will turn My hand against you, And thoroughly purge away your dross, And take away all your alloy. I will restore your judges as at the first, And your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city.’ Zion shall be redeemed with justice, And her penitents with righteousness. The destruction of transgressors and of sinners shall be together, And those who forsake the LORD shall be consumed.” The prophecy is clear. God says, “I am going to move. I am going to move against your judges. I am going to move against your political leaders. I will even move against your spiritual leaders who have perverted the Word. That sounds like a God who promises the utter destruction of His enemies. Verse 28 makes it clear that there is destruction for transgressors and all those who forsake the Lord shall be consumed. Would anybody like to redefine ‘destruction’ and ‘consumed’? They mean exactly what they say. There is no doubt about it. I guess the only thing left to answer is, ‘What does this destruction look like?’ What does the glory of the Lord look like when it is manifested to bring destruction?
