Scripture: Genesis 15:15-16, Leviticus 20

In Genesis 15:15-16 we find the Lord saying to Abraham “’Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age.  But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete (full).’”  Israel was locked up in Egypt for 400 years until the land they were to possess by promise was filled with iniquity by its initial inhabitants.  Once it was filled with iniquity, the inhabitants lost their right of ownership to that land as it was initially assigned by God.  In Leviticus chapter 20 we find four things that fill a land with iniquity so that the current inhabitants lose their right to posses it.  In verses 1-5, it is the sacrifice of innocent blood, like abortion.  In Leviticus 20:6-8, it is witchcraft and new-age consulting with demons.  In verse 9 it is the rebellion of the drug culture.  In verses 10-24 it is the issue of allowing homosexual marriage.  When these four things are tolerated in a society, the land fills with iniquity and begins to cry out for divine intervention and judgment.  Romans tells us that the creation travails to be delivered from the weight of sin.  When the land begins to travail, then judgments start to happen and ultimately how it turns out depends on the church.
