Independence Day has arrived again and our liberties are shrinking dramatically thanks to the socialist agenda of the Obama administration. While the transformation of America into a debt-ridden, nanny nation grieves many, it is not the biggest problem America has. In seasons like this, the church should be leading the way for change, but the majority of believers now remain silent.

When my generation came of age in the 60’s and 70’s, a demonic movement and hippie culture swept American youth, offering free sex and “women’s liberation”. Many proponents of that lifestyle gravitated to academia where they embraced socialism and reproduced their antichrist philosophy in succeeding generations. The fruit of that now permeates our nation where emasculated Christians have forgotten how to be men of war.

The demonic doctrine of tolerance has incarcerated generations of believers through the constant drumbeat of classroom ideology.  God does not tolerate sin, He judges it! When God judges sin at a national level – the inhabitants lose their nation to foreign invaders. Are Western countries yielding to Islam?  The only way to save a nation is for the believers to stand up and declare God’s position of righteousness.

Jehoshaphat was King of Judah while Ahab was King of Israel. 1 Kings 21:25,26 states, “But there was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do wickedness in the sight of the LORD, because Jezebel his wife stirred him up. And he behaved very abominably in following idols, according to all that the Amorites had done, whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.” When an Ahab rules, the righteous groan!

As wicked as Ahab was, when he heard Elijah’s rebuke and declaration of coming judgment, he humbled himself in sackcloth and repented, prompting God’s action in verse 29, “See how Ahab has humbled himself before Me? Because he has humbled himself before Me, I will not bring the calamity in his days. In the days of his son I will bring the calamity on his house.” Jehoshaphat first allied himself with Ahab by marriage and then joined him in war against Syria. The coalition of a righteous man and a wicked man resulted in Jehoshaphat fleeing for his life and barely escaping.  Jehoshaphat was confronted and had to repent. If we have such an alliance, we should repent.

As long as the church embraces mixed seed and refuses to deal with the demonic doctrine of tolerance, we cannot do what is demanded to save our nation. We, like Jehoshaphat, have allied ourselves with evil and the words of the prophets rebuke applies to us, “Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD? Therefore the wrath of the LORD is upon you.” (2 Chronicles 19:2). The king’s actions in verse 4 indicate he repented.

Once Jehoshaphat separated himself from his alliance with evil, two nations joined for war against him, He went to the house of the Lord and cried out to God for deliverance. 2 Chronicles 20:12 states, “Our God, will You not judge them?  For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.” God gave an answer, “And he said, ‘Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the LORD to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow go down against them.’’” (2 Chronicles  20:15b,16a)

God has always asked us to take a stand against evil. Once we take the stand it is up to Him whether we live or die and whether the battle is won or lost. The only war America has lost was because we quit, thanks to the anti-war peace movement. If the church is losing the war for the nation, it is because we are not taking a stand against evil.  Which side are we on? God demands we stand against evil even when it is promoted by our own government and even if we voted for the individuals espousing the evil we first repent for aligning with evil, then take our stand against it!
