March 2008 Outcry

When looking at the choice for a National leader, I wonder if God is saying, “Whatcha gonna do now, Church?” This is not a time for wringing hands and cursing the darkness. Awake AWAKE O mighty man and woman of Jehovah – to the Covenantal Power of The Most High God.

Recently in the mail a big envelope with large print asked: “What is wrong with the _________  Party? One could ask the same about the church: “What is wrong with the Christian Church?” Are we putting our faith in “The Right Politician” to save us? Perhaps some adjustments are needed for our times and seasons. Are we lopsided and do we have a clear view of who Jehovah actually is and His purpose for this land? How can the church rise to meet the challenge? If the five-fold ministry of Ephesians 4 only has limited access to pulpits, then the people of God would most likely know how to walk as priests only and not as kings.

Evangelists bring people into the Kingdom. Teachers teach the people Who God is and what He expects and how to live fruitful and productive lives. Pastors love, bandage, instruct, help, explain and counsel. Prophets slice and dice the dead wood from our lives. They help straighten out our crooked places and proclaim the purpose and direction of God. Apostles are sent to speak into our lives regarding our callings. [Expanded teaching: “After God’s Own Heart” by Al Houghton]

Surely this is the moment for the true prophets who have stood in God’s counsel to get His words and take their place. The need for the true prophet’s voice is huge! Jeremiah 23 is a sober look at prophets who are saying things that God has not said. Though many say “Thus saith”, they were speaking imaginations of their own heart. God addresses this issue in Jeremiah 23:20, “The anger of the LORD will not turn back Until He has executed and performed the thoughts of His heart. In the latter days you will understand it perfectly.”

In other words — God IS going to execute the thoughts and intents of His mind and heart in these latter days — and when He does, we will understand it perfectly. That means He is going to make a difference between what is of Him and what is not.

Verse 22 states, “But if they” (the true prophets) “had stood in My counsel, And had caused My people to hear My words, Then they would have turned them from their evil way And from the evil of their doings.” That is a qualifier for the prophet to actually stand before God’s people and speak – for repentance and turning are needed in them. He said so.

HOW can we in these latter days understand perfectly? When the true stands in the counsel of God and then speaks – God backs up those words and people see and things change. (Acts 5:1-11 “they saw” and the fear of the Lord showed up).

Having been raised by parents who believed in the fruit of the belt applied to the padding on the back-side to encourage words spoken when needed. I hasten to say this is not spear-chucking – but discipline and correction – properly placed – helps the crooked places get straightened out so that our temples are scrubbed (I John 1:9) – and our prayers are effectual (James 5:16) – and the covenantal prayer of “Sure Mercy” is confidently placed before our covenant-keeping God  in response to our out-cry before Him turns a nation, effectual changes are made, and harvest is reaped. (Acts 13:34, II Samuel 7:15, Isaiah 55:3. Book: “Sure Mercies Of David” by Al Houghton).

Whatcha gonna do now, Church?
Don’t wait – cry out for the Church and cry out for America – today.
If not you, who? If not now, when?
