MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4
Scripture: Luke 4:18

Luke 4:18 says, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted , To proclaim liberty (af-es-is) to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty (af-es-is) those who are oppressed;…” Jesus declared His purpose twice as He quoted Isaiah 61:1-2. His purpose was to set us free, to deliver us from the bondage of a life of sin. This process starts with recognition that we were in a prison we could not get out of, that we were in prison due to what Adam chose. Adam’s choice to disobey God tainted mankind and imprisoned us to sin. Christ came in order to break the power of that prison. We are not just being delivered we are being recreated in order to be totally free from the power of sin. That demands a rebirth. Jesus paid the price not just for forgiveness but He paid the price to recreate us according to His original purpose. To understand that culmination we have to back up and then trace the process.
