Scripture: Exodus 33:18-21

In Exodus 33:18-23 Moses said, “Please show me Your glory.” God said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” God went on to warn Moses, “You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.” And then the Lord offered a customized safe place. “There is a place by Me, and you shall stand on the rock So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by. Then I will take away my hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.” A most interesting part of the exchange Moses had with God is here. In this passage God reveals in answer to Moses’ desire to see His glory that there is a place with our name on it and we can stand there and we can stand in God’s glory. That is the bottom line here. Moses’ longing to see God’s glory leads to God’s response of guiding Moses to the place that is available. God shows us through this passage that there is a place already prepared with our name on it. There is a place where we can stand protected by God in His glory. Let’s pursue it!
