Scripture: John 16:7-11, Isaiah 28

John 16:7-11 says, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.” What will we look like when the Holy Spirit comes on us? The answer to this in part is what we find in Isaiah 28. We will look like a plumbline-people. We will look like a people that will convict the world of sin, of righteous and of judgment. Righteousness because when Jesus went to the Father He dropped that plumbline in us. Of judgment because we pray in the Spirit and wait until He drops that plumbline in us. We diligently pray until that judgment is manifested. Are we doing that in the church? Some of us are! Some of us have been led into this. This is my third decade of walking with Jesus the Judge. The question is how do we get to this place? It can often be as straightforward as pray, pray, pray in the Spirit and God Himself will establish the plumbline and God Himself will apply it! It is not up to us to apply it. It is up to God! Our job is to be the plumbline and His job is to drop it wherever it is timely and appropriate.
