SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 3
Scripture: Mark 11:22-24

Mark 11:22-24 says, “So Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be removed and be cast into the sea,” and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.’” This is certainly a parallel passage to the Hebrews 11 passage. Knowing that we can speak to mountains, command them to be removed and know that God Himself will aid in the process is foundational to our governmental and judicial authority in Christ. Jesus paid for it. He took all authority in heaven and earth, bought it with His blood and then gave it to the church as a gift. What He expects us to do is to walk in righteousness. We need to ask ourselves to what degree are we taking God’s gift, appropriating it and walking in it. I remember a pastor I met in Baltimore and he told me he had to take a stand that was unpopular in his community. One night he walked out of a meeting, heard a shot and felt a thud in his chest. He looked down and realized a bullet had just hit him. But the bullet wasn’t in his chest – it was lying at his feet! He picked it up, put it in his pocket and apparently has carried it there ever since. He showed it to me and said, “Now here is what God does for the men that walk with Him! The Lord saved my life that night and protected me. I carry it with me as a reminder that it pays to obey.” I have never forgotten that. Are we appropriating God’s Word and using it on our flesh to obey Him? How much confidence do we have in the face of death itself?
