THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1
Scripture: Hebrews 11:1

Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” The Greek word translated “evidence” is hoop-os-tay-ay-sis and means ‘the ground of confidence, assurance, guarantee or proof.’ It means, ‘to place or set under. In general that which underlies the apparent reality, essence, substance, that is the basis of something.’ It is assurance, guarantee and confidence. Faith is confidence in the things hoped for. It literally means to choose to stand in the midst of all the sediment of what is around us. It means that, regardless of all the things that are happening, we choose to stand on that which is rock solid – God’s Word. God’s Word becomes our confidence in the midst of all the chaotic things that are settling at our feet. Then with His Word as our anchor we take a stand on biblical faith. I trust we are all moving in that direction because it is required in the last days.
