Scripture: Hebrews 11:8

Hebrews 11:8 says, “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.” How did Abraham have to apply his faith? He had to use it on his flesh to deny the dictates of what he grew up with and the understanding that sons would stay with their father’s house. As long as a patriarch was living, he made the decisions about where the family went and what they did. But God called Abraham to turn from that tradition and follow Him. Abraham had to use his faith on his flesh to obey God. It could not have been easy to completely turn from the confines of his own traditions and culture. But he did it. And he went out not knowing where he was going – can we walk with God in that kind of faith? Of course we can! Hoop-os-tass-o – takes hold of the worry and the fear and puts it under our feet. That sets us free to obey what we hear God saying.
