Scripture: Exodus 15:22-26

There is one whole category of seed in Scripture that is very important to sow in the season in which we live. Exodus 15:22-26 outlines that category when it says, “So Moses brought Israel from the Red Sea; then they went out into the Wilderness of Shur. And they went three days in the wilderness and found no water. Now when they came to Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore the name of it was called Marah. And the people complained against Moses, saying, ‘What shall we drink?’ So he cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a tree. When he cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweet. There He made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there He tested them, and said, ‘If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.’” Israel found themselves needing to drink water but the water was death, it was bitter. The people murmured and complained. ‘We don’t have anything to drink.’ Moses cried to the Lord and the Lord gave Moses wisdom to heal the waters. There was a very specific tree that he was led to cut down and to throw into the waters. When he did the waters became sweet. God used that to introduce the promise of maintaining divine health for His people. Verse 26 says, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.” God revealed Himself to Israel as Healer and the requirement for healing was obedience to His Word. If we will heed the voice of the Lord and do what His Word tells us to do, then we have access to healing from disease. The only way we can all finish our race in full strength is if we have access to healing. Healing at times through prayer is instant or may be a healing process and at times comes through doctors and hospitals. Whatever path God chooses is God’s provision for health and healing. It is one we need to be thankful for knowing that any medicine or any skill that the doctors have is God-given and contributes to our healing. We thank Him for it because He is responsible for the application, the medication and for making it work. We set our faith for healing. Healing is still the fruit of an act of faith. If we go to the doctor or if we take medication, it is still an act of faith that it will work and restore to complete and total health. That is the promise. God wants to be our Source for health and healing and we need to sow the whole family of healing Scriptures in our heart which will make that a reality. Whether our healing comes through healing prayer or through healing doctors, the outcome of health and good healing results are from God.
