Scripture: Matthew 5:17-19

Matthew 5:17-19 says, “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” God said to Abraham, “I know you will do righteousness so you can do judgment.” So what is our part? Our part, according to Romans 5:17, is to receive the gift of righteousness. Our part in Revelation 5:1-10 is first to recognize we have been made Kings and Priests. Second, our job is to do judgment from a platform of righteousness. And Matthew 5:17-19 tell us what we have to embrace in order to qualify for doing righteousness. It is fairly obvious that God gave the Ten Commandments for a reason – they explain our doing of righteousness. If we will do it, we can pray judgment and possibly save a nation.
