Scripture: Mark 10:39,40

Mark 10:39,40 states, “They said to Him, ‘We are able.’ So Jesus said to them, ‘You will indeed drink the cup that I drink, and with the baptism I am baptized with you will be baptized; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared.’” James and John answered without consideration. Jesus answered them by saying, “You will indeed drink the cup that I drink, and with the baptism I am baptized with you will be baptized… (But what you are asking is not mine to give you), but it is for those for whom it is prepared.’” They got saddled with the cost and still did not receive the answer they wanted. That was not the wisest move they ever made and I trust none of us will follow their example. We certainly need to consider and wait before we answer when the Lord asks us about what we want. God’s preparational price parallels the path of the Savior. We learn obedience by the things we suffer! God’s path starts with surrender and ends with obedience!
