FRIDAY, AUGUST 9
Scripture: Acts 13:19-21

In Acts 13 we begin to see the foundation of the covenant that Jesus spoke about to the church in Philadelphia. In verse 19, covenant mercy to the Israelites destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, so they could have their promise by allotment. Covenant mercy has both a forgiveness side and a judgment side. The forgiveness side of covenant mercy deals with our sin and failure, while the judgment side of covenant mercy deals with our unrelenting enemy! It is time we understood that covenant judicial mercy is the responsibility of the church and the difference between Saul and David is the difference between one individual who entertained unsanctified mercy and one who did not. The one who did not is the man after God’s Own Heart. Let the unsanctified mercy of Saul be banished from the church so that we may uphold the justice of the Living Christ and we will see a far different harvest in the last days! Let the government of God rule over the government of men!
